On Nov. 16, 2022, NABU and SAPO sent the case against the ex-prosecutor of the General Prosecutor's Office accused of acquisition of property and official forgery to court. His actions fall under Part 5 Art. 191, Part 1 Art. 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

As established, in 2019, as part of an investigation, the accused searched an individual bank safe and stole 8 kg of gold bars worth over UAH 11.8 million. In order to secure the criminal intention, he forged official documents, in particular, indicating that the gold belonged to another person, who had nothing to do with the safe.

NABU started investigating these facts at the request of the relatives of the owner of the gold. In August 2022, the ex-prosecutor was notified of suspicion. At the beginning of November 2022, the investigation was completed.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered non-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
