Kyoto money embezzlement case: the indictment as of 4 suspects was sent to court

On June 6, 2017, the indictment as of 4 persons involved in an attempt of 336 million UAH embezzlement received by Ukraine under the Kyoto Protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change was sent to the Solomyansky District Court of Kyiv. The suspects and the defence had been granted access to the documents of the pre-trial investigation for two months.

Results of the online voting for the NABU Civil oversight council

On May 31, 2017, the online voting for the new members of the Civil oversight council was held by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). On June 6, 2016, the list of 15 winners was published on the official website of the NABU. The online voting was organized based on the software which allowed users to monitor the voting process in real time.

NABU Detectives of the Forensic Laboratory acquired unique skills

Two employees of the Forensic Laboratory of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) received a certificate of an expert on computer-technical research according to the criteria of the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS). Currently they are the only ones in Ukraine who have received this qualification confirmation.

EU Anti-Corruption Initiative will support the NABU`s institutional capacity

The European Union (EU) is ready to support reforms in Ukraine, including anti-corruption iniatives. At the same time, frequent attempts to undermine the independence and effectiveness of the newly created anti-corruption agencies, in particular, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) are of concern. This was stressed by the Commissioner of the European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn at the presentation of the European Union’s Anti-Corruption Initiative in Ukraine (EUACI) program which took place on June 1, 2017.

Indictment as of 8 suspects involved in so-called "Onyshchenko’s gas scheme" was sent to court

On May 30, 2017, the indictment as of eight suspects involved in the so-called "Onyshchenko’s gas scheme" was sent to the Solomyansky District Court of Kyiv. The last three months, the abovementioned suspects and their defense were reviewing the files of the pre-trial investigation. On May 25, 2017, the review term prescribed by the court ended.

NABU conducts searches in the Kyiv District Administrative Court as of the facts of illegal enrichment of its Chairman

On May 26, 2017, on the basis of decision of investigating judge, the Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) conducted searches in the house of the Chairman of the Kyiv District Administrative Court (KDAC) and in the court itself.

NABU calls on the MPs not to support the Draft Law N6220

The Draft Law №6220 "On Amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine on Entering of Data into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations and Basis on Termination the Criminal Proceedings" is under consideration in the Verkhovna Rada. The adoption of the abovementioned Draft Law can block investigations of law enforcement agencies, including investigations of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor`s Office (SAPO).

NABU will strengthen cooperation with anti-corruption agencies of Hong Kong

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) will strengthen cooperation with the Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC). The NABU Director Artem Sytnyk and the executives of the ICAC agreed on this when the Bureau visited Hong Kong.

NABU received full access to the Register of e-declarations

On May 10, 2017, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU)  received full access to the Unified State Register of declarations of the persons authorized to implement the functions of state and local self-government bodies. Thus, the Detectives and analysts of the NABU have the ability to process all the data from the Register via the closed network directly from the Bureau.
