On July 27, 2021, NABU and SAPO notified three persons of suspicion of implementing a corruption scheme to seize 1.56 thousand tons of grain worth more than UAH 12 million. Their actions fall under Part 5 Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
To improve the efficiency of pre-trial investigation the National Bureau implements criminal process innovations such as transforming paper-based criminal procedure into electronic format, using procedural interview methodic, and standardization of pre-trial investigation. The Criminal Investigation Standards efficiency was the subject of discussion at NABU that took place on July 22, 2021.
NABU and SAPO have filed an indictment with the High Anti-Corruption Court against five persons who organized a corrupt scheme to purchase apartments for the personnel of the National Guard of Ukraine, which proved to be unfit for habitation.
On July 23, 2021, the Deputy Chairman of the Kharkiv Regional Council and his accomplice, a lawyer, who had been exposed the day before, were notified of suspicion of accepting a UAH 1.05 million bribe. The actions of the official fall under Part 4 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("accepting an illegal benefit in a particularly large amount, combined with extortion"), the actions of his accomplice – under Part 5 Article 27, Part 4 Art. 368.
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) have completed a pre-trial investigation into a corruption scheme resulting in UAH 103 million losses to the company during the purchase of diesel fuel for Ukrzaliznytsia PJSC. In June 2021, the NABU Detectives launched probes within 49 criminal cases, served six notices of suspicion, and filed five indictments against six people. One conviction in respect of three persons came into force.

Former Prosecutor of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine Oleksandr Matiushko, sentenced by the High Anti-corruption Court to two years in prison for a proposal of USD 10 thousand for a post in NABU, has been detained today by Detectives. He has been taken to a pre-trial detention center pending his transfer to a penal colony. As previously reported, the ex-prosecutor was declared wanted as he evaded serving his sentence after the HAAC verdict came into force in early February 2021.
The results of high-level corruption probes, as well as the prosecution of those previously considered "untouchable" in Ukraine, have provoked strong resistance from the system and an attack on the independence of anti-corruption agencies. This was emphasized by the NABU Director Artem Sytnyk at the meeting with representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on July 7, 2021.

NABU and SAPO have served a former Head of the Production and Technical Equipment Department of Yuzhnoukrainsk NPP (a part of “National Nuclear Energy Generating Company “Energoatom” SE) and his accomplice, head of two companies with notices of suspicion of embezzling UAH 12.3 million of power plant's funds. Their actions fall under Part 5 Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
