«Energoatom» case: one more participant of the scheme was detained

On February 22, 2018, the Former Head of a separate Unit of the State Enterprise National Nuclear Power Generation Company (NNPGC) «Energoatom», suspected of causing damage to the SE NNPGC «Energoatom», was detained at the Kyiv Boryspil Airport. During the last three months the suspect was mentioned in the wanted list.

The investigation revealed that the suspect acted as a representative of the company «BRADCREST INVESTMENTS S.A.» (Panama Republic). In particular, he personally agreed with representatives of «SKODA S.A» regarding the amount of transfers of illegal funds. Also he had signed the documents that became the basis for transferring funds to the settlement accounts of the company «BRADCREST INVESTMENTS S.A.», owned by the ex-Member of Parliament (also known as the Head of Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Fuel and Energy Complex).

According to the NABU request 86.4 million UAH (3.2 million CHF) at the account of the company in a Swiss bank was seized.

Currently the court chose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of around-the-clock home arrest. The abovementioned person is suspected of committing a crime under Part 5, Article 27, Part 5, Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He also must wear an electronic monitoring device and pass his passports.

It should be reminded that the NABU Detectives started the pre-trial investigation as of the fact of 6.4 million EUR funds embezzlement of the SE NNRGC «Energoatom» in December 2015. The proceeding was joined with the investigation as of the facts of 17.28 million USD funds embezzlement of the SE «Eastern Mining and Processing Plant» in November 2017. Currently, 11 people were given notices of suspicion for committing a crime, 4 of them were put on the wanted list.

Among other suspects there are executives of the SE Eastern Mining and Processing Plant, State Concern Nuclear Fuel, National Joint Stock Company Naftogaz of Ukraine, Public Joint-Stock Company United Mining and Chemical Company and structural Unit of the SE NNEGC «Energoatom».

On January 9, 2018, the former Member of Parliament (also known as the Former Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex) and his defense were provided with access to the documents of the pre-trial investigation.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine a person is considered not-guilty in commission of crime and cannot be a subject to criminal punishment, until he or she is found guilty by the court.
