The Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor`s Office (SAPO) completed an investigation on suspicion of one of the participants in the so-called "gas scheme” as of facts of public funds embezzlement while producing and selling gas under joint operation agreements with the PJSC “Ukrgasvydobuvannia”.
On August 30, 2019, the suspect and her defense have been granted with access to the materials of the investigation. After that, an indictment will be sent to court.
The suspect is a relative of the ex-Member of Parliament of Ukraine, who is accused of organizing of the so-called “gas case”. Since August 2016, she has been on the international wanted list. On July 25, 2019, employees of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine detained this person at the Boryspil airport.
She is suspected of committing crimes under Part 1 Article 255, Part 5 Article 27 Part 4 Article 28 Part 5 Article 191, Part 5 Article 27 Part 4 Article 28 Part 2 Article 205, Part 5 Article 27 Part 4 Article 28 Part 3 Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The investigation revealed that this person acted as an accomplice in the criminal group, which during the 2013-2015 illegally embezzled funds while producing and selling gas under joint operation agreements with the PJSC “Ukrgasvydobuvannia” (the so-called “gas case”).
The NABU and the SAPO have been conducting a pre-trial investigation since December 2015.
It should be reminded that from January 2013 to June 2016 the members of the criminal organization illegally seized more than 1.6 bln UAH while producing and selling natural gas. As a result, more than 740 mln UAH losses were caused to the PJSC “Ukrgasvydobuvannia” (100% belong to the NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine”).
The investigation revealed that 29 persons were involved in this scheme. 3 persons were put on international wanted list. 15 indictments as of 25 suspects were sent to court, convictions were entered into force as of 11 persons.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
