Considering the fact that Oleksandr Onyshchenko is a current MP, and therefore has a special status, the International Criminal Police Organization(Interpol) will be able to make a decision on putting him into International list of wanted persons no earlier than in October. We would like to mention that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine sent all the necessary documents on August 10, 2016.

According to the provisions of the Article 2 and 3 of the Interpol Constitution Onyshchenko cannot be put into International wanted list without the resolution of the Commission for the Control of Files (hereinafter - the Commission) on the absence of political persecution because he is an active Ukrainian MP. The Commission meets only a few times a year and the next meeting, where the case of Onyshchenko may be considered, is scheduled for October 2016.

As it was already mentioned the NABU provided the Interpol National Central Bureau (NCB) for Ukraine with all the necessary explanations and documents, confirming the absence of politically motivated prosecution of the Ukrainian MP.

It should be reminded that Oleksandr Onyshchenko is suspected of organizing a public funds embezzlement scheme (gas production and realization jointly with the PJSC “Ukrgasvydobuvannia”). As a result, the public property damage reached nearly 3 billion UAH.

On July 5 the Ukrainian Parliament voted for bringing Onyshchenko to justice, as long as for his detention and arrest. However, before the vote, Onyshchenko took advantage of his immunity and fled the country.

On June 27 the General Prosecutor of Ukraine sighed the notice of suspicion against the Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Onyshchenko. On August 8 Onyshchenko was put into national wanted list.

Oleksandr Onyshchenko is suspected of committing crimes under the Part 1 of the Article 255, Part 4 of the Article 28, Part 5 of the Article 191, Part 2 of the Article 205, Part 3 of the Article 209, Part 2 of the Article 364-1, Part 2 of the Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
