On January 25, 2017, the Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) in agreement with the prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) filed a request to the Solomyansky District Court of Kyiv asking for permit to conduct a pre-trial investigation into the case of judge of the Dniprovsky District Court of Kyiv Mykola Chaus in his absentia.

The NABU and the SAPO decided to take this measure on the reason of the suspect’s hiding from investigative bodies and on the basis of him being put  on the international wanted list. The suspect was informed about an interrogation in accordance with the laws. Relevant announcements as required by law were published in official sources: the government`s newspaper "Uriadovyi Kurier" and the Bureau's website.

It should be reminded that on August 9, 2016, the Detectives of the NABU exposed the judge Chaus who received the improper advantage in the amount of 150 thousand USD for making illegal court decision.

Chaus is suspected of committing a crime under Part 4 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

On September 6, 2016, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine agreed to detain and arrest judge Chaus. Then, using his judicial immunity, the suspect fled the country.

On August 16, 2016, the judge Chaus was put on the national wanted list. On November 11, 2016, he was placed on Interpol's international wanted list.
