Effective functional allocation and operational independence of structural units is the key to setting up an effective anti-corruption agency - said NABU Director Artem Sytnyk during a meeting with representatives of the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia and the Embassy of Armenia in Ukraine on Nov. 9, 2021.
"We know that you are launching a new agency in Armenia with a functionality similar to that of NABU. The team and the maximum use of the potential of each officer are crucial. Therefore, we have determined and distributed functions among departments and the small staff of 700 officers so that our investigations would be as independent as possible and would not require any involvement of other law enforcement agencies. Of course, after the first year of work, we came under pressure from the corrupt system. You need to be ready for this and this is an indicator that you are moving in the right direction", said Artem Sytnyk.
The Head of the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia Sasun Khachatryan thanked the NABU leadership for sharing the experience that will be useful in establishing the Armenian analogue of NABU.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to Ukraine Vladimir Karapetyan also took part in the meeting.
