The NABU Special Operations Department employees took an oath to the people of Ukraine in the presence of the President Petro Poroshenko and the NABU Director Artem Sytnyk.
Being conscious of high responsibility, the special operations unit members swore to abide by the Constitution and laws of Ukraine, to respect and protect human and civil rights, liberties and legitimate interests and state honour, to be honest, diligent and disciplined, to keep the state secrets and other secrets protected by the law.
During the event the President pointed out the Bureau's unique structure: “It is one agency that includes operatives, analysts, enforcement officers and detectives. Thus it combines all the functions necessary to send a strong message of effective corruption combating to the people of Ukraine and to the whole world”.
According to Petro Poroshenko, the National Bureau's security forces are equally important as other departments. When addressing the Special Operations Department employees, he pointed out: “The country, the government and I, as a President, all wait for the NABU's resolute, uncompromising and effective work on eliminating corruption in Ukraine. For my part, I can assure you that both the President and the government have the political will to ensure the NABU's effective performance.”
The President emphasized that the state had created all the necessary conditions for the NABU's work: sufficient financial support, reliable protection, adequate arming.
“The APC standing here symbolises that nobody will stop the National Bureau's detectives and special forces units. The NABU will be given all the resources needed for effective performance. I am sure that the NABU's success in combating corruption is a starting point for Ukraine's success on it's path to the European Union, and in the near future, over the next several months – to the visa-waver agreement with the EU countries,” - said the President.
