The NABU finished pre-trial investigation of the case of A. Pasishnyk

Detectives of the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine finished pre-trial investigation of the criminal proceeding in respect of Andriy Pasishnyk, the Acting Deputy of the Board Chairman of the Naftogaz National Joint Stock Company unlawfully influencing the actions of Aivaras Abromavičius, the Minister of Economy and Trade, member of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine with the purpose of preventing him from performing his duties and persuading him to make an unlawful decision (article 344, part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The system is resisting the NABU's work – A. Sytnyk

The National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine sent materials concerning corruption risks on ten judges to the High Qualification Commission of Judges. Eight of them have successfully passed recertification afterwards. This may be the sign of the system resisting the fight against corruption – said Artem Sytnyk, the NABU director.

112,3 million UAH agreement between Zaporizhyaoblenergo and Energomerezha Holding Company was invalidated after the NABU filed a suit

On Wednesday, 29 March 2016, the Kyiv Commercial Court sustained the second of five claims filed by the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine and invalidated Claim Assignment Agreement between Zaporizhyaoblenergo OJSC and Energomerezha Holding Company.
 
The court invalidated the agreement according to which Zaporizhyaoblenergo OJSC transferred the debt claim on the Zaporizhya Titanium-Magnesium Plant debt amounting to more than 112,3 million UAH to the Energomerezha Holding Company.

The NABU finished pre-trial investigation into State Finance Institution for Innovations property embezzlement

On Wednesday, 23 March 2016, the detectives of the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine finished the pre-trial investigation of the criminal proceeding concerning embezzlement of the State Finance Institution for Innovations property by its head (article 191, part 5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
 
The indictment was forwarded to court by prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-corruption Prosecutor's Office, the accused has reviewed the case file.

Gizo Uglava: Power to arrest the accused will allow the NABU to fight corruption more effectively

Imperfection of Ukraine's legislation  prohibits to impose mandatory detention as pre-trial restriction for those accused of corruption. Therefore there is a risk that the accused will attempt to leave the country after the bail is posted. This was announced by Gizo Uglava, First Deputy Director of the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine.
 
According to him, when it comes to investigating corruption-related crimes, bail is not always sufficient as a pre-trial restriction.

The NABU minimised risks of corruption and power abuse among its employees – Gizo Uglava

Multi-staged open competition, work of the Internal Control Department and group work of the Bureau's detectives allowed the NABU to minimize risks of corruption and power abuse among its employees. This was announced by Gizo Uglava, the First Deputy Director of the NABU in his interview to the “Novoye Vremya” magazine.
 
He expressed his belief that corruption risks and offences are eliminated at the stage of competitive selection.

The NABU submitted first cases to court – A.Sytnyk

The NABU detectives are conducting searches within the investigation of the UkrGasVydobuvannya PJSC proceeding

The detectives of the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine are conducting a number of searches in different locations of Kyiv and Kyiv region, in particular in the offices of firms associated with criminal schemes in selling natural gas. 
 
The searches were carried out on the basis of judicial warrants as part of the pre-trial investigation in criminal proceeding on charges of position abuse in selling natural gas mined in collaboration with the UkrGasVydobuvannya PJSC.
