On Thursday, September 22, 2016 the detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine detained the chief investigator for high-profile cases of the Department of investigation of high-profile economic cases of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine (GPO) on suspicion of property conversion by abuse of official post (Article 191 Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The corresponding investigation was started on September 1, 2016 by the NABU detectives under the procedural guidance of the Anti-corruption prosecutors.

On Thursday, September 22, 2016 the detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine detained the chief investigator for high-profile cases of the Department of investigation of high-profile economic cases of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine (GPO) on suspicion of property conversion by abuse of official post (Article 191 Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The corresponding investigation was started on September 1, 2016 by the NABU detectives under the procedural guidance of the Anti-corruption prosecutors.

The EU officials expressed their support for the legislative initiatives, required for the efficient functioning of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine. In particular, it refers to the right of autonomous wiretapping and the establishment of the Anti-corruption court.

The Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine under the procedural guidance of the Anti-Corruption prosecutors and in cooperation with the Chief Department for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime of the Security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv and region exposed and took into custody the Acting Chancellor of the National Aviation University for taking an improper advantage (bribe).

The investigations of the proceedings on 50 million UAH embezzlement of funds of PJSC "State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine”, conducted by the NABU detectives, resulted into 34 million UAH returned to the accounts of the Corporation.

"The NABU’s task is not only to expose the crime but also to bring the guilty ones to justice, eliminate the corruption schemes and return the stolen funds to the state. Over the past few months of the NABU’s work, 69 million UAH have  already been returned to the state budget," the NABU Director Artem Sytnyk said.

In response to numerous requests from mass media regarding appearance of the name of Paul Manafort on the Party of Regions ‘black ledger’ (documents passed to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau by the Ex-first-deputy of the State Security Service of Ukraine Victor Trepak), the National Anti-Corruption Bureau informs on the following.

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has faced the first open unlawful confront of the other law enforcement bodies of Ukraine, being under Bureau’s investigation. In particular, on August 12 two officers of the NABU Operative and Technical Department, while being on duty, were illegally detained for 11 hours by the General Prosecutors Office (GPO) staff (Department of investigation of high-profile economic cases).

Under the law, any public official, who has declared his or her income from “teaching” activity, cannot be charged for misdemeanor, stressed  the Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine Artem Sytnyk during the briefing.
