
Thanks to the work of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau for the first time in Ukraine more than 100, 000, 000 UAH have already been returned to the state enterprise's accounts. This was underlined by the NABU Director Artem Sytnyk at the meeting with the diplomatic corps.
According to him, today 200 NABU Detectives are investigating more than 215 criminal proceedings and 36 cases are already in court. However, the judges do not hurry to pass sentences.
«This spring the Bureau sent a case as of one employee of the Prosecutor General's Office who had tried to bribe a member of the NABU’s Civil Oversight Council to get a job at the Bureau. However, six months passed and there is no sentence in this simple case», - said Artem Sytnyk.
He reminded that «resonance prison sentences» awaited by public are not solemnly the NABU’s work, but the effective work of the whole law-enforcement system. That is why the establishment of the Special Anti-Corruption Court is so crucial. The Special Anti-Corruption Court along with the NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor`s Office (SAPO) would make a fully functioning vertical to combat high-level corruption.
At the meeting the NABU Director expressed his gratitude to the international partners for assistance in Bureau's establishing, cooperation during of the pre-trial investigations and for the support of the Bureau’s functional independence.
