The Information Processing and Analysis Department of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine in response to the allegation by a MP Svitlana Zalishchuk started an information analysis on the legitimacy of funds that she had spent on buying an apartment.
Thus, according to the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, the income of a MP Svitlana Zalishchuk in 2011-2014 amounted to 922, 848 UAH.
In 2014, prior to being elected an MP, Svitlana Zalishchuk had bought an apartment in Kyiv jointly with her civil husband Мårten Ehnberg – the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine. She provided funds in the amount of 36,000 USD and the rest was paid by her civil husband. It should be mentioned that Svitlana Zalishchuk hadn’t worked as a civil servant before her election as MP.
At the same time, the Bureau conducted information analysis on Svitlana Zalishchuk’s assets and exposed certain discrepancies.
First, the MP declared an apartment that she had bought in 2014 in her 2013-Declaration.
Second, Svitlana Zalishchuk filled in the details for her civil husband in the 2015-Declaration only.
Having taken into consideration the abovementioned facts, the NABU found no grounds (due to the insufficiency of data) to start criminal proceedings on the alleged use of illegal funds for the apartment purchase.
The materials of information and analytical check will be sent to the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) for further examination.
