About 30 persons, as the Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) established, involved in the organization of corruption schemes, are currently hiding abroad. Almost 50% of them, according to the investigation, are hiding at the territory of the Russian Federation. This data was published at the Report on the NABU results during the first half of 2018.
On August 14, 2018, the Cassation Commercial Court of the Supreme Court (hereinafter - the Supreme Court) satisfied the petition of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) to Public Joint-Stock Company (PJSC) Ukrnafta and to the Limited Liability Company (LLC) Kotlas for invalidating 60 agreements of purchasing petroleum products for the total amount of 2.94 billion UAH. In particular, the Supreme Court upheld the decision of the appellate court according to the suit filed by the NABU to PJSC Ukrnafta and LLC Kotlas on the invalidation of the abovementioned agreements.
The Solomyansky District Court of Kyiv satisfied the motion filed by the Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and seized the integral property complexes of the combined heat and power plants (CHP) of Novyj Rozdil and of Novoyavorivsk. It should be reminded that the NABU Detectives conduct the investigation as of the facts of 300 million cubic meters’ embezzlement of natural gas of National Joint-Stock Company (NJSC) Naftogaz of Ukraine. According to the court decision, this integral property complexes were transferred to the National Agency of Ukraine for finding, tracing and management of assets (ARMA). This was stated by the NABU Director Artem Sytnyk and the ARMA Head Anton Yanchuk at the briefing which took place on August 2, 2018.
The Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) informed students of Ukrainian Law Universities on the peculiarities of conducting investigative actions (searches) and on the complexities of pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings as of top-corrupt officials. The event "Criminal Justice in Action Summer School" was held near Dnipro city in the period 21-27 July.
On July 26, 2018, the Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) under the procedural guidance of the Anti-corruption prosecutors have completed a pre-trial investigation as of the Member of Parliament of Ukraine (MP) Oleksandr Onyshchenko. He is suspected of organizing public funds embezzlement scheme while producing and selling gas under joint operation agreements with the Public Joint-Stock Company (PJSC) Ukrgasvydobuvannia (the so-called «gas case»).
On July 17, 2018, between 11 and 12 a.m. during unauthorized meeting at the NABU entrance, the group of the so-called titushki (sturdy young men who join meetings for payment) broke into the building of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). Initially, these persons went to the Public Reception Office with the purpose of submitting the appeal. There they disabled the security camera, broke down the doors and the metal blinds, which separated the public space from the restricted area, and entered the hall of the NABU building.
On July 11, 2018, the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor`s Office (SAPO) made a decision to terminate the criminal proceeding as of suspected ex-Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and as of one more person (who is also known as a relative of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine).
The Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) completed a pre-trial investigation of the criminal proceeding as of the facts of 14.5 million UAH public funds embezzlement while purchasing of engines for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The indictment as of the officials of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Enterprise (SE) "Lviv Armor Vehicle Factor" was drawn up. On July 11, 2018, the prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor`s Office (SAPO) sent the indictment to the Solomyansky District Court of Kyiv.
On May 30, 2018, the online voting for the new members of the Civil Oversight Council (COC) was held by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). It results were published on the official website of NABU, in accordance with the Regulations on the NABU Civil Oversight Council.
There’s an urgent need to amend the norm of the Law of Ukraine «On the High Anti-Corruption Court», providing that appeal courts of general jurisdiction will consider appeals against decisions of the first-instance courts made before The High Anti-Corruption Court is established.
On June 11, 2018, at 02:15 p.m. there will be a press conference on the results of performance of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine over the last three years and perspectives for further development of the institution with participation of the Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine Artem Sytnik. Robert Storch, Inspector General of US National Security Ageny, and Carlos Castresana, Member of the International Anti-Corruption Advisory Board of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative will also take part in the briefing.
