The economic effect brought by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office work in the first six months of 2023 makes UAH 1.678 billion. This includes funds directed to support the military, assets reimbursed to state-owned enterprises, prevented embezzlement, and forfeited property.
NABU and SAPO have completed an investigation of three persons involved in a scheme, namely the deputy director of the "Production Support Center" branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" and two accomplices.
The first half of 2023 was marked by efficiency for the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine. NABU succeeded not only in keeping up with last year's high pace but also in significantly improving its results.
On Aug. 15, 2023, NABU and SAPO exposed 5 participants of an organized group that misappropriated land plots of more than 1200 hectares near Kyiv. Their actions caused over UAH 1.8 billion in losses to the state.
NABU and SAPO have served a suspicion notice on the organizer of the scheme to embezzle the Ukrzaliznytsia property. Thus, there are four suspects in the case involving UAH 11.8 million losses to the state-owned company. The other three suspects*, the deputy head of Ukrzaliznytsia branch, the head of Ukrzaliznytsia Logistics Department and the head of a private company, were notified of suspicion in October 2021.
