NABU and SAPO have prevented a group of individuals from an attempt to have "their people" appointed as chiefs in the territorial bodies of the State Customs Service to organize corruption schemes.
According to the investigation, USD 1 million was offered for the post of the head of Lviv Customs. Another USD 500,000 and USD 200,000 were offered for the same positions at Volyn and Chernivtsi Customs, respectively.
Furthermore, the suspects wanted the top management of the State Customs Service to turn a blind eye to corruption schemes at these customs in exchange for half of the illegally obtained income.
Thanks to NABU detectives and SAPO prosecutors, the criminal intentions have been prevented.
The actions of the suspects fall under Part 2 Art. 15, Part 4 Art. 27, Part 4 Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
