NABU and SAPO, jointly with the SBU, exposed a group of individuals in Odesa inciting a bribe to obtain a court decision in favor of a person.

According to the investigation, a judge and a lawyer offered the defendant in a civil case to arrange a deal with a judge of one of Odesa’s district courts. The matter concerned issuing a ruling in his interest for USD 10,000.

After the transfer of the second tranche of the bribe, they were caught red-handed.

At present, the perpetrators have been served with a notice of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 15, and Part 3 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Measures are being taken to identify other possible participants in the crime.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
