USD 30,000 for construction in Lutsk: regional and city council deputies served with suspicion notices (PHOTOS)

NABU and SAPO have exposed deputies of the regional and city councils in the Volyn Oblast for receiving unlawful benefits.

According to the investigation, the head of one of the deputy factions of the Volyn Regional Council (a former Member of Parliament of Ukraine), acting in collusion with the head of the same faction in the Lutsk City Council, requested an unlawful benefit of USD 30,000 from the user of a land plot in Lutsk (also a former MP).

They promised to ensure positive voting by deputies of their faction and the adoption of the “necessary” decisions by the Volyn Regional Council and the Lutsk City Council to allow the construction of a multi-apartment residential building on the plot.

The former MP agreed to the proposal and, after the Lutsk City Council approved the decision to endorse the detailed territorial plan, paid part of the bribe in the amount of USD 15,000 to the deputies. Subsequently, the Volyn

Regional Council adopted a decision to change the designated purpose of the land plot, which enabled its development.

The deputies have now been notified of suspicion under Part 4 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and the bribe-giver under Part 1 Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
