City council deputy exposed accepting USD 66,700 for land lease (PHOTOS)
NABU and SAPO, in cooperation with the SSU, exposed a deputy of the Myrhorod City Council, a member of the land commission, who solicited and received an undue advantage worth USD 66,700 for tackling a land issue.
According to the investigation, the official asked a local farmer who wanted to extend the lease of land plots and rent new ones to provide an undue advantage in the amount of USD 66,700. In exchange, he promised to vote personally for a necessary decision at the land commission and city council sessions, as well as to ensure a sufficient number of other votes.
The deputy was exposed red-handed taking the money. He was detained pursuant to Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
His actions fall under Part 4 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The investigation is ongoing.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
