Italy seizes luxury yacht of SPFU case participant (PHOTOS)
Thanks to the activities of a joint investigative team comprising NABU detectives, SAPO prosecutors, and representatives of French law enforcement, with the assistance of Italian law enforcement, a posh asset belonging to one of the leaders of the criminal organization in the State Property Fund of Ukraine has been tracked and seized.
The asset in question is a premium-class yacht worth over €5 million.
As part of the joint investigative team’s efforts, Italian law enforcement authorities arrested and confiscated the property.
Earlier, within the framework of the joint investigative group’s work, French law enforcement seized the suspects' real estate valued at nearly EUR 6.5 million, while Austrian authorities seized luxury cars and jewelry.
Measures are currently being taken to identify additional assets of the criminal organization's members, as well as to locate and extradite them.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
