Lawyer caught on inciting client to bribery

NABU and SAPO have served a lawyer with a notice of suspicion for inciting a client to bribe a judge of one of the district courts in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.

According to the investigation, the suspect proposed to "settle the issue" of closing an administrative case initiated for a driver’s refusal to undergo an intoxication test.

The price of such a "service" was USD 1,500, allegedly intended for the judge.

In reality, the lawyer had no intention of handing the money over to the judge and instead used it at his discretion.

The suspect's actions are qualified under Part 2 Article 15, Part 4 Article 27, Part 3 Article 369, and Part 3 Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
