Sumy’s Mayor, department head notified of suspicion (PHOTOS)
On Oct. 3, 2023, NABU and SAPO notified the Mayor of Sumy and the head of the City Infrastructure Department of suspicion of accepting a UAH 2.13 million in bribe. On Oct. 2, 2023, they were caught right after receiving the final installment of UAH 1.4 million.
Their actions fall under Part 4 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the suspects requested money from a company for securing a decision on proper garbage tariffs and not interfering in its business operations.
After the final installment of UAH 1.4 million was received, the officials were exposed.
The total amount of the undue advantage is UAH 2.1 million.
The investigation is underway.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
