NABU and JICA step up cooperation

Continued support for anti-corruption initiatives and capacity building for the NABU were discussed at a meeting between NABU leadership and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine, Mr. Matsuda Kuninori, and the Director General of the JICA Department for Governance and Peacebuilding, Ms. Masuda Junko.

The NABU Director Mr. Semen Kryvonos, expressed gratitude to the guests for their consistent support over the years in building an independent anti-corruption infrastructure and assistance in combating corruption.

Participants of the meeting paid special attention to implementing the recommendations provided by experts during an Assessment, which included representatives from Japan, supported by JICA.

NABU Director Semen Kryvonos and Ambassador Matsuda Kuninori emphasized the need for an independent audit of NABU's work as soon as possible, based on the principles of transparency and openness.

The parties also discussed the opportunity of further cooperation and strengthening the NABU`s capacity through JICA-supported training and the provision of technical resources to enhance the effectiveness of investigations.
