International aid oversight and accountability - NABU Director met with U.S. Inspector General
Overseeing the use of international aid and accountability to its providers was the focus of a recent meeting between NABU Director Semen Kryvonos, SAPO Head Oleksandr Klymenko, and a U.S. delegation led by Department of State Inspector General Cardell Richardson.
Mr. Richardson highlighted the critical importance of effective control of the use of U.S. international aid, emphasizing that trust in Ukraine's accountability mechanisms directly affects further funding.
NABU's Director briefed the guests on the specifics of Ukraine's anti-corruption ecosystem and shared the bureau's recent success in investigating top corruption.
Participants of the meeting paid special attention to enhancing the effectiveness of investigations by establishing an independent forensic institution at NABU and implementing the agency's right to independent wiretapping.
Finally, Semen Kryvonos thanked the U.S. government for its ongoing support, marked the assistance from the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs of the U.S. Department of State (INL) and other U.S. bodies.
