National Bureau to assess whistleblower protection system
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, with the support of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, is set to cooperate with Wim Vandekerckhove, a leading international expert in whistleblower protection standardization and the primary developer of the whistleblowing management system (ISO 37002:2021 Whistleblowing Management Systems — Guidelines).
The collaboration is intended to conduct a detailed analysis of the current whistleblower protection system at NABU, explore opportunities for its improvement, and adapt it to international standards and EU regulations.
The initiative aims to evaluate the effectiveness of addressing potential violations of whistleblowers' rights, increase the level of trust potential whistleblowers have in authorized NABU officials, and ensure high standards of protection for those who report unlawful actions or omissions of others.
We are confident that through joint efforts we can provide a safer environment for whistleblowers within NABU and enhance the effectiveness of its operations.
