MP suspected of UAH 11 million illicit enrichment

NABU and SAPO have charged a Member of the Ukrainian Parliament with illicit enrichment.

According to the investigation, in 2020-2021, the MP acquired assets worth UAH 25 million, while his and his spouse's official income and savings during this period amounted to no more than UAH 14 million.

The property in question is 3 land plots in the Kyiv region, 5 apartments in the capital, 2 non-residential premises, as well as Tesla and Mercedes-Benz cars.

Thus, the difference between the value of the acquired property and the MP's funds totaled UAH 11 million.

To conceal the ownership of these assets, the MP registered most of them with close relatives, retaining the right to dispose of them in full.

His actions fall under Part 5 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The crime was uncovered after a series of journalistic investigations, in particularly by the Bihus.Info team, as well as with the facilitation of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
