NABU and SAPO have charged one of Ukraine's top officials with the illegal enrichment of UAH 56.2 million and giving false information in his asset declarations.

According to the investigation, between 2020 and 2023, the suspect, serving as the head of a regional state administration, acquired 21 properties and a luxury car, registering the assets under his wife's relatives' names.

This includes:

  • 7 apartments in Kyiv and Uzhhorod with a total area of 688.5 square meters;
  • a house outside Kyiv of over 220 square meters;
  • 2 garage units;
  • 6 parking spaces;
  • 3 non-residential premises with a total area of over 190 square meters;
  • a BMW X3.

At the same time, the difference between the value of these assets and the available funds (income, savings) of the official and his wife amounted to UAH 56.2 million.

Moreover, the suspect did not indicate the acquired assets in his 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 declarations.

His actions fall under Article 368-5 and Part 2 Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The investigation was launched after a journalist probe by Radio Svoboda.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
