Ambassador Masashi Nakagome visits NABU

National Bureau's support and independence were among the key topics discussed during the first official meeting between NABU Director Semen Kryvonos and the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine, Masashi Nakagome.

Semen Kryvonos expressed gratitude to the Japanese government for its assistance in building Ukraine's anti-corruption infrastructure and its unwavering support in the fight against corruption.

The parties paid special attention to implementing the recommendations provided by experts during the Technical Assessment of NABU in the fall of 2023. These recommendations have significantly contributed to improving the Bureau's operations and serve as a foundation for preparing for the Independent Audit, which is currently underway. Notably, the expert group conducting the Assessment included representatives from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The parties also discussed further cooperation and strengthening NABU`s capacity through JICA-supported training.

Ambassador Masashi Nakagome stressed Japan's readiness to continue supporting Ukraine in the fight against corruption and facilitating NABU's work.
