UAH 2.49 million was refunded to Berdyansk Branch of “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority” thanks to the NABU investigations

During April 2020 – January 2021, UAH 2.49 million was returned to the Berdyansk Branch of the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority” (USPA SE). These funds were paid for undelivered equipment.

 

 

The damages were fully refunded due to the NABU and SAPO investigation. The investigation revealed that during 2018-2019 the officials of Berdyansk Branch of the USPA SE and private company organized corrupt scheme through which the SE illegally overpaid UAH 2.49 million during the state procurement of autocrane.

The NABU Detectives started a pre-trial investigation as of the abovementioned facts in February 2019. On July 1, 2020, a case as of the Head of the administration of the Berdyansk Branch of the USPA SE and the ex-Head of a private company was sent to court.

In November 2020, the indictment as of another participant in the crime - an engineer of the Berdyansk Branch of the USPA SE was sent to court. Both cases are currently in High Anti-Corruption Court.

On January 13, 2021, the last part of UAH 2.49 million was returned to the SE. Thus, all losses caused by the corruption scheme was refunded.

 

 

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
