Odesa Regional Council deputy caught red-handed
On June 7, 2022, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor`s Office (SAPO), and the National Police detained a deputy of the Odesa Regional Council, chairman of a standing committee.
As established, the deputy extorted and received from the director of a hospital an undue benefit for not interfering in the hospital's work, as well as for the "guarantee" of his remaining in office.
The official was caught red-handed, receiving UAH 120 thousand.
His actions fall under Part 3 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He will soon be served with a suspicion notice and taken to court for a measure of restraint to be chosen.

On June 8, 2022, the deputy was notified of suspicion under Part 3 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
