Two persons are suspected of attempting to bribe the Head of the StateGeoCadastre

On December 9, 2020, the Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor`s Office (SAPO) gave a notice of suspicion to the Acting Head of one of the Territorial Departments of the State Service of Ukraine for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre (StateGeoCadastre) and an intermediary. The actions of the suspects are qualified under Part 4 Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Earlies that day NABU and the State Security Service of Ukraine under the procedural guidance of SAPO exposed the suspect on the transferring of the improper advantage in the amount of USD 25 thousand to the Head of the StateGeoCadastre.  

The investigation revealed that the first part of the improper advantage in the amount of USD 26.9 thousand was given to the Head of the StateGeoCadastre in November 2020. It was assumed that the total bribe amount would count USD 170 thousand and intended for the issuance of orders for the allocation of land plots to fictitious persons.

NABU found out that one of the suspects was connected to the companies that provided services to the StateGeoCadastre in regions of Ukraine in 2020. Therefore, the investigation believe that he may influence these processes, so NABU and SAPO would take all necessary actions to prevent it.

NABU started the investigation as of the facts in September 2020 at the request of the Head of the StateGeoCadastre Roman Leschenko regarding a proposal to give him with an improper advantage.

 

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
