Ex-Energoatom official suspected of causing UAH 93.76 million losses
On Feb. 7, 2023, NABU and SAPO charged the former general director of "Energoatom-Trading" separate unit of "NAEK "Energoatom" SE with abuse of official position. His actions fall under Part 2 Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The investigation established that in September 2020, Energoatom launched an auction for the sale of electricity, in which 32 companies took part. The suspect (currently the head of one of the branches of Ukrzaliznytsia) created conditions for the victory of a predetermined company that purchased electricity at a price of just UAH 1,120 for 1 MW/h. While other auction participants offered more favorable prices - up to UAH 1,300 for 1 MW/h.
As a result of the sale of 1,465,000 MW/h of electricity at an undervalued price, the enterprise lost UAH 93.76 million.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
