Minister is suspected of submitting false data to e-declarations

On July 9, 2019, the Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) gave a notice of suspicion to the Minister of the Ukrainian government. He is suspected of allegedly committing a crime under Article 366-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (“Submitting false data to e-declaration”).

The investigation revealed that the Minister submitted false data to annual e-declarations for four years (2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018). The NABU Detectives found out that official did not submit the data on the financial liabilities for a total amount of almost 1.25 million USD.

The NABU Detectives under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) have been conducting the pre-trial investigation as of the abovementioned facts since September 2018.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine a person is considered not-guilty in commission of crime and cannot be a subject to criminal punishment, until he or she is found guilty by the court.
