NABU, DIU help return three marines from occupation
Three Ukrainian marines returned to Ukraine-controlled terrain after spending more than half a year in an occupied city. The rescue operation was carried out by NABU and the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU).
The NABU Detectives assigned to the DIU received information that three marines, including one woman, were hiding in an occupied city in the east of Ukraine. In late February, as hostilities gained momentum, the military got wounded and could not return to the controlled territory on their own. Thanks to the locals, the marines held out for six months in the occupation zone.
In order to evacuate them, NABU, together with the DIU, developed and conducted a complex operation, which turned successful and the military ended up in the controlled territory.
