NABU, SAPO suspect MP of treason, illegal enrichment

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) have notified a Ukrainian MP of the III-IX convocations of suspicion of treason and illegal enrichment. His actions fall under Part 2 Art. 28 Part 1 Art. 111, Art. 368-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Since the lawmaker is hiding from the investigation, he has been notified of suspicion in absentia and declared wanted.

As established, in 2019-2022, the suspect received at least USD 567,000 from law enforcement and intelligence agencies of the russian federation for subversive activities against Ukraine, in particular in the public sector. His actions were aimed at discrediting the international image of Ukraine, spoiling diplomatic relations between the USA and Ukraine, as well as complicating Ukraine's integration into the European Union and NATO.

NABU and SAPO are investigating the mentioned facts under the operational support of the SSU Counterintelligence.

In July 2022, during a series of searches, NABU and SAPO discovered and seized materials that testified to MP's long-lasted subversive activities, and his constant communication with representatives of the aggressor state and collaborators.

The investigation is ongoing.
