NABU detained the judge from Lugansk region on receiving an improper advantage

On June 30, 2017, the Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) under the procedural guidance of the Anti-corruption prosecutors jointly with the employees of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) detained the Acting Head of the City Court in Lugansk region on receiving an improper advantage.

The judge received the improper advantage through an intermediary for making illegal decision in a civil case.

Law enforcement officials have been documenting the systematic implementation of corrupt actions by the abovementioned judge for several months. In particular, the investigation revealed that the judge was involved in seven episodes of receiving improper advantage of about 100 thousand UAH for making decisions in civil, administrative and criminal cases.

On July 1, 2017, the judge was given a notice of suspicion for allegedly committing crimes. 

On July 2, 2017, the High Council of Justice satisfied the request filed by the NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor`s Office and gave permit to the detention of a judge from Lugansk region.

The pre-trial investigation of the criminal proceeding continues.
