Non-declaration of assets and corruption by Ukroboronprom enterprise head: investigation completed

NABU and SAPO have completed the investigation into the director of Izium Instrument-Making Plant (a subsidiary of Ukroboronprom State Concern) suspected of taking UAH 2.44 million in undue advantage and not declaring real estate abroad. His actions fall under Part 4 Art. 368, Part 1 Art. 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. On Nov. 23, 2022, the case file was disclosed to the defense for perusal.

As established, in September 2016-January 2017, the official received a kickback in the amount of more than UAH 2.44 million from persons associated with Optimumspetsdetal LLC for concealing fraud with unjustified payment for the supply of military goods to the said company. NABU and SAPO also got evidence that the he did not specify in his 2020 asset declaration an apartment in Bulgaria worth UAH 1.33 million, owned by his wife.

In October 2022, the official was notified of suspicion.

NABU and SAPO has investigated several corruption episodes related to Ukroboronprom, involving Optimumspetsdetal LLC. So far, the investigation has identified nine participants in the corruption scheme. Four of them have been convicted, four more are on trial.

NABU and SAPO are delving into other possible abuses with the participation of Optimumspetsdetal LLC and the Ukroboronprom enterprises.
