Judge Buran’s case: the indictment was sent to the court

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine in agreement with the prosecutors of the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor`s Office (SAPO) have sent to the court the indictment against the judge of the Malynovsky district court in Odesa Oleksii Buran. He is accused of receiving an improper advantage in the amount of 500 thousand UAH (Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) along with the threat to kill one of the NABU staff being on duty (Part 1 Article 345 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The judge's partner in crime is also charged under Part 1 of Article 345 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

If the accused are found guilty, they will face the imprisonment for a term from 8 to 12 years with disqualification to hold certain positions or to be engaged in certain activities for 3 years with forfeiture of property. 

It should be reminded that on April, 1 Solomyansky district court in Kyiv granted the application by the NABU detectives in agreement with the Specialized Anti-corruption Prosecutor's office and selected holding in custody without bail as preventive measure for the judge O.Buran. On March 29 during the search of his house, judge Buran resisted the NABU and National Police officers and opened fire.
