Gizo Uglava assumes powers as acting NABU Director

From April 17, 2022, due to the expiration of the office of NABU Director Artem Sytnyk, the respective powers will be temporarily executed by his First Deputy Gizo Uglava.

According to the Law "On NABU", in case of termination of office or dismissal of NABU director, the respective powers are exercised by their first deputy until a new director is appointed.

Gizo Uglava was born on Nov. 18, 1975 in Kutaisi, Georgia. Since 2015 he has been a citizen of Ukraine.

 

Gizo Uglava started his career at the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia in 1998, where he worked until Nov. 7, 2012. During this period he went from an intern at the Imereti Regional Prosecutor's Office to the Deputy Chief Prosecutor of Georgia.

 

Gizo Uglava's area of ​​competence included units tasked with fighting against corruption, money laundering, and financial crime.

 

Gizo Uglava is one of the persons behind the idea of ​​launching NABU. In April 2015, he was appointed First Deputy Director of NABU.
