Nomination of SAPO Head to boost fight against corruption

The National Bureau welcomes the appointment of the Deputy Prosecutor General — Head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office. We are convinced the step is crucial for preserving the independence of SAPO and increasing the efficiency of all anti-corruption bodies.

An independent head of SAPO is one of the key requirements accompanying the Ukraine's EU candidate status. Electing a new head through transparent competition is also one of Ukraine's obligations to the IMF.

Oleksandr Klymenko graduated from the Kharkiv National Law University of Yaroslav Mudryi and received a law degree. In March 2010, he started working in internal affairs bodies, first as an investigator, and then as a senior investigator.

In March 2016, Oleksandr Klymenko became a NABU detective through transparent and open competition. Within a year, he became a senior detective, and in November 2017, - the head of a detective unit.

In November 2021, he succeeded in the competition to become the deputy head of a detective department.
