Embezzlement of UAH 2.87 mln during the construction of dugouts in JFO area: indictments sent to court
NABU and SAPO have filed indictments regarding retired lieutenant general and an official of the Donetsk Regional State Administration suspected of abuse of authority.
Due to the actions of the suspects, the State lost UAH 2.87 million and the military in the JFO area were not provided with poper fortifications. The actions of the accused fall under Part 2 Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("Abuse of power or official position").
As established, in 2015, the Head of the Armed Forces Operations Support approved project documentation that did not meet the tactical and technical requirements stipulated by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. This allowed a private company to construct fortifications of inadequate quality within the ATO/JFO area in Donetsk region. The NABU Detectives believe the official acted deliberately in the interests of a private company.
Subsequently, the Department of Capital Construction of the Donetsk Regional State Administration unreasonably accepted the work performed by the private company. The investigation into the role of this official was completed in July 2020.
The case materials were opened to the defense and the suspects for review in May 2021.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
