Submitting false data to e-declarations by ex-Governor: investigation completed

The Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor`s Office (SAPO) completed pre-trial investigation as of the facts of submitting false data to e-declarations by the ex-Head of one of the Regional State Administrations (equivalent to the Governor).

On August 27, 2019, the abovementioned official and his defense had been granted with access to the materials of the investigation. After that, an indictment will be sent to court.

The investigation revealed that the ex-official did not submit a worth in the amount of about 35 mln UAH and 8 mln UAH, data on real estate, cars, income and corporate rights to annual e-declarations for 2016 and 2017. In addition, he did not submit an e-declaration for 2015 at all.

The NABU Detectives have been conducting a pre-trial investigation since January 2017. On July 2019, the NABU and the SAPO gave a notice of suspicion to the ex-Governor.

According to the Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine a person is considered not-guilty in commission of crime and cannot be a subject to criminal punishment, until he or she is found guilty by the court.
