Judge from Lviv region got a notice of suspicion
On March 2, 2020, the Acting Head of one of the District Courts of Lviv region was given a notice of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He is suspected on receiving an improper advantage. The notice was signed by the Head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor`s Office.
Investigation revealed that the judge demanded an improper advantage for decision-making on not bringing a person to administrative liability. Immediately after receiving an improper advantage, he was exposed by the NABU Detectives. The Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) started a pre-trial investigation as of these facts in December 2019.
It should be noted that NABU has already exposed the abovementioned judge on bribes at the end of 2018. He received EUR 1,000 for not bringing a person to administrative liability for DUI.
The investigation as of that fact was completed and indictment was sent to court.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine a person is considered not-guilty in commission of crime and cannot be a subject to criminal punishment, until he or she is found guilty by the court.
