Chernihiv region judge caught red-handed

On Nov. 9, 2021, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) caught a judge of the Chernihiv District Administrative Court accepting a USD 20 thousand bribe.

The judge extorted the funds for making a decision in an administrative case in favor of the plaintiff. He received it in two tranches: USD 7 thousand in advance, before making the "right" decision, and USD 13 thousand after it was made.

The perpetrator was exposed immediately after receiving the second tranche. He was detained under Art. 208, Art. 482 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

On Nov. 10, 2021, the judge was served a suspicion notice.
