NABU exposed a Head of the Road Service of Mykolaiv Region on receiving an improper advantage

On September 12, 2019, the Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor`s Office (SAPO) gave a notice of suspicion to the Head of the Road Service of Mykolaiv Region.

He is suspected of demanding and receiving 300 thousand UAH and 90 thousand USD of improper advantage.

The actions of the official are qualified under Part 4 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The investigation revealed that in August 2019 suspect received 300 thousand UAH from a private company for assistance in transferring of nearly 4.62 million UAH to its accounts as a payment for the repair of the road H-11 of Dnipro-Mykolaiv.

Less than a month later, the suspect demanded a part of funds paid by the Road Service of Mykolaiv Region to a private enterprise again. The amount of demanded funds was 90 thousand USD.

The Head of the Road Service of Mykolaiv Region was exposed and detained on receiving these funds.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine a person is considered not-guilty in commission of crime and cannot be a subject to criminal punishment, until he or she is found guilty by the court.
