Four suspected of causing UAH 200 million losses to State Reserve Agency
On March 20, 2023, NABU and SAPO announced suspicion on three accomplices of the ex-director of the State Reserve Agency of Ukraine, whose actions led to more than UAH 200 million in damages to the state.
They are:
- the ex-official of the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade, and Agriculture, also a member of the auction committee at the State Reserve Agency — Part 5 Art. 27, Part 2 Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine;
- the director of the LLC that carried out the property assessment — Part 5 Art. 27, Part 2 Art. 364, Part 1 Art. 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine;
- an assessment reviewer — Part 5 Art. 27, Part 2 Art. 364, Part 4 Art. 27, Part 1 Art. 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The ex-director of the State Reserve Agency was notified of suspicion by the State Bureau of Investigation on Aug. 30, 2022. The next day, the case file was transferred to the National Bureau. His actions fall under Part 2 Art. 364, Part 4 Art. 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
As established, in 2021, the former Acting Head of the State Reserve Agency, abusing his official post and falsifying a property assessment report, sold 18,000 tons of diesel fuel at a price more than twice cheaper than the market average. As a result, the state suffered losses worth over UAH 200 million.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
