One of the suspects in the case of property seizure from the state-owned enterprise National Cinematheque of Ukraine has been extradited to Ukraine.
The person in question is the former head of the company in whose favor several buildings owned by the National Cinematheque were illegally alienated.
The person was handed over to National Bureau at the Ustyluh-Zosin international automobile checkpoint in the Volyn region. The operation was made possible due to cooperation with the competent authorities of the Republic of Poland and effective interaction with the Prosecutor General's Office as the central authority of Ukraine for extradition of suspects.
On Sept. 24, 2024, the High Anti-Corruption Court remanded the suspect in custody with an alternative bail of UAH 10 million.
As reported, NABU and SAPO notified nine persons of suspicion of seizing real estate (14 buildings) of the state-owned enterprise National Cinematheque of Ukraine, valued at nearly UAH 42 million.
Subsequently, thanks to the efforts of anti-corruption bodies, these assets were returned to the state.
The investigation in the criminal proceedings has been completed.
The court has approved plea agreements for four participants in the crime, under which they transferred UAH 43.5 million to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
