Rivne Regional Council deputy head caught on bribe (PHOTOS)

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, together with the Security Service of Ukraine in the Rivne region, exposed the deputy head of the Rivne Regional Council receiving an unlawful benefit from a private entrepreneur for "assistance" with land and property issues.

According to the investigation, at the end of 2021, a private entrepreneur purchased a non-functioning children's sanatorium once in communal ownership.

Upon learning that the buyer also wanted to own the material assets of the sanatorium and the land under it, the official offered "assistance." It involved the write-off of property and the decision by the deputies of the Rivne Regional Council to sell 5.4 hectares on which the facilities stood.

For that, in 2022-2023, the official received a bribe from the entrepreneur totaling almost half a million hryvnias.

His actions fall under Part 3 Article 369-2 and Part 4 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
