Rivne region deputy caught red-handed accepting money from a Chernobyl survivor (PHOTOS)
NABU and SAPO detained a deputy of the Rivne Regional Council who extorted and received an undue advantage of USD 1,200 from a person for giving her a disability group in connection with the accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
As established, the detainee (who is also the head doctor of the CE "Rivne Regional Specialized Dispensary for Radiation Protection of the Population") requested money from a woman with a bunch of diseases caused by the Chornobyl accident in exchange for papers necessary for granting her a disability group. This kind of disability group is given for a longer period of time and presupposes a wider list of benefits and higher social payments than with ordinary disability.
After accepting the money, the deputy was detained. He will shortly be served with charges.
The investigation into the above facts was started after a woman's report.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
