MP suspected of requesting UAH 3.4 million kickback from business (PHOTO)
NABU and SAPO have served charges on an incumbent MP who solicited a bribe from the head of a village council in the Sumy region and organized its receipt.
According to the investigation, in March 2024, the MP asked for an undue advantage in exchange for not obstructing the repair of local infrastructure facilities and not interfering with the tender for the repair of waterpipe.
As established, his kickback amounted to 10% of the total contract amount, and another 4% was intended for local law enforcement officers to ensure they didn't interfere with the process. The total amount in question was UAH 3.4 million.
The investigation is ongoing, other potential participants in the crime are being identified.
The MP's actions fall under Part 4 Art. 368, Part 3 Art. 27, Part 4 Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
